Dinner last night cooked by the skipper after a big day driving, too good not to mention, sausage, egg, chips, mushrooms and tomatoes yummy.
This morning was wet as we drove nearby to LA Chapelle de Guinchay to tourist centre and wine shop, but again closed. Had lunch and continued towards Macon to find site for the night and into Burgundy region.
The French certainly like their road humps and roundabouts as we drove on this grey and drizzly day. Seems to be no law here about driving and using mobile phones, most trucks and cars drivers have phone to their ear.
Drove along the Saone river where the land is much flatter here.
Our site in the village Lugny, again was no more.......but you can't say we are not getting lots of rural driving. On the way to Plan B or was it now Plan C, we saw Cave de Lugny, so had to go in and sample their wines. Perfect day for it, wet and grey.
This is Chardonnay country , in fact the next village is called Chardonnay . Well what a fantastic introduction to the Grape, the region, the terroir or soil which makes the different complexity of the wines. His English was very good, must have tried 12 different wines, 5 bubbles, 5 chardonnay, 1 gammay and pinot noir. Tony was in his element, of course there was lots of water in between and lots of spitting.............
We had to purchase a Chardonnay from Chardonnay........and 2 more for good luck. Extremely interesting afternoon.
Now it was our turn at the stalemate, we were 1/3 into the tunnel and a car who hadn't entered at that time, came in and wouldn't budge, shooing at us to reverse!,!! because she had right of way..... out I got to guide skip and Bessie back to let her and a dozen others now pulled up behind her through ....French are very stubborn and arrogant sometimes, usually pretty good though. No photos of this one though.
On to La Truchere for our village stop by the river Saone, very pretty, but not today in wet and grey.
