Wed 13 Sept 9° Sligachan campsite to Loch Carron viewpoint

Sunny, glass like reflection of mountain in the water of Sound of Raasay,  clear sunny day.

Stopped for diesel £1.19 £40 34 ltrs, after maneuvering between trucks, oil tankers and a truck pulling a wooden shed we managed to get around to the pump for lpg 62p very, very slow got to 6p and stopped. Tony went in to pay and the attendant came out said it happens all the time, he is always coming out,  no problem, took 8 ltrs £5.

Carried on over the Skye Bridge to Eilean Donan castle,  Pat and Les there, we had lunch, the rain stopped and we walked to get tickets, £6.50 each but no backpacks allowed, so Tony volunteered to be bag man, so the 3 of us walked over the bridge to the castle, fabulous, very good value, full of information on the McRae clan and a plaque with names of McRae from first world war from all over the world including NZ.
Rooms furnished with real and replica furniture and artifacts. The kitchen and pantry were amazing, pies, vegetables,  meat, fruits, trifle,  jellies,,pheasants,  rabbits,  salmon all so realistic. Unfortunately not allowed to take photos inside the castle but really so very well done.

We got back, Tony went in, Les went for a rest, Pat bought a souvenir mug and we had coffee and a slice of Eilean Donan fruit cake, very moist and full of yummy flavours.

Then heavens opened,  Tony came back and we agree our next  stop at Auchtertyre,  when we got there it had been blocked off to stop people parking there,  not far up the road, there was a large layby at Loch Carron viewpoint, we parked and found 3 possibilities going on, then the cars that were parked left and Tony said we could park here, so he reversed in by the first picnic table and Les reversed in front, perfect, fabulous views. Sorted!

Pat brought in a pack of muscles in sauce for us for entre, then they came in for drinks and chat before going back to cook their dinner. The muscles were delicious...must keep an eye out for then the next time we are shopping,  we had chicken and veg stir fry for dinner.

Quiet and peaceful, great spot.
