Dry sunny day for our trip into town €1.70 each, half an hour on the bus, boy they don't waste anytime, whipping around the bends down the narrow mountain roads.
Well did we save the best till last, what a little gem of a place. Picturesque city with big wide boulevards, parks, historic buildings, quaint little lanes of the old city full of gastronomic delights, Pintxos (tapas), cafés and restaurants this is the culinary capital of the world with more Michelin star restaurants per square metre than any other city in the world! A real foodies delight and just 12 miles from the French border and you see the heavy French influence all around.
In the bay of Biscay surrounded by mountains it's two golden beaches have a wide promanade making for a delightful walk. This is now Basque country where they have their own unique language but also speak French and Spanish with very good English as well.
A pretty little harbour and a turtle shape rock Santa Klara Island makes for a good souvenir supply.
There is something for everyone here. We love it.
Asparagus soup, celery sticks and fresh rolls tonight for dinner.
