Fri 17 March 9° - 17° Metz France

On closer inspection this morning the services are not working and someone had emptied their toilet cassette on top of the waster water drain, been there a long time by look of it. Rubbish bins full and more piled up around the bin, long term caravans parked on site so not as appealing as it looked yesterday.

We walked into town for a look around,  overcast and cool, got map from Tourist office, we were now cold so went back to Bessie for lunch and more clothes. Obviously a bit optimistic as one warm sunny day does not a summer make.

Walked around the city, old and new into the covered market, which was the former Bishop's palace which was not finished due to the French Revolution.

Metz was annexed by Germany  in 1871-1918 and 1940-1945 but still retains its French language and heritage.  St. Etienne Cathedral is unique as having the highest Nave in Europe at 4qm and 6,500 sq.m stained glass windows.

The bridge showing the Temple Neuf and convergence of the Seille and Moselle rivers.

Planned next day stop and cooked salmon steaks, stir fry veg and noodles for dinner and watched a bit of TV.
