Mon 20 March 11° Kehl - Grand Rue Alsace Wine Trail

On planning our route for today Tony saw the Alsace wine trail south, so decided to go that way instead of through the mountains to Lindau and Lake Constance.

No wifi so driving ' wild ' for first time. The mifi didnt like it in Kehl and blog for Fri froze and cant get photos in.  First blossoms starting to appear on trees.

Driving through pretty village of Rosheim with arched buildings over cobbled road.

First sighting of vineyards in Alsace this region is 2nd biggest producer of white wine in France primarily aromatics, Gewertz, Pinot, Gris, Rieseling. Through modern town of Obernai and to Ribeauville one of the oldest medieval towns I  Alsace, very pretty.

Saw new Lidl at Selestat, so had to stop and have a look, got Montepulciano d'Bruzzo €1.99 a bottle..............silly not to.......... and 2 Alsace whites.
Day warming up,  sun is out , miles of vineyards now, mostly flat but going up into surrounding hills. Stopped for photo with wine trail sign.

Plan A stop at Turckheim not exciting at all so drove on to Eguisheim free site in a car park near sports center, new housing being built oppossie,  pleasant evening sampling the white alsace and planning for tomorrow 14°  .

Fish chips and salad cooked by the skipper salad and tartar sauce by moi .
