Sat 16 Dec 9° Albufeira- Favela da Nova, Ourique House Sit

Eggs, bacon and tomato brunch before leaving at midday, looked a very clean vibrant town so will bring Jenna and Alex here for a look around.

Arrived at Cafe to meet Mike and Yvonne,,had a coffee while we waited, friendly place not much English, very rural here. They arrived we had a chat while we finished our coffee then followed them up a dirt track to the house, not far, could walk here.

They have a gate leading onto a gravel drive, quite steep as it winds down in front of the cute little house. Had a catch up and look around, then took the dogs Bob a Polengo,  Indy a Cattle Mountain dog, both Portuguese Alantajo  breeds. Both are rescue dogs, Bob is quite nervy and Indy is his protector, she has to be on lead as she found a baby lamb, so now can't be left to roam as Bob does.

Mike had hotels in UK so was very knowledgeable on various Gins and Whisky etc, we had a large bowl glass of gin and tonic before dinner, cottage pie (beef) shepherds pie (lamb) with a very nice red wine.

He was telling us about a little known whisky 'As we find it' 115% proof and he said he would like us to try it. Whewwww the vapours.....could only take little sips...not unpleasant though.

We watched the final,of Strictly Come Dancing and enjoyed a Whisky tasting.

Yvonne said on Tuesday the supermarket has 60% off items often wine, so a good day to go into Ourique. Unfortunately the car that they are leaving for our use is in the garage but should be back Monday, their friend Kerry will collect it and bring it for us.
