Very cold but clear blue, cloudless sky again, glorious. After breakfast we walked back into town, we're told they have processions on Sundays.
Walked around, very cold wind and sand whipping up, procession of people walking behind a flag going into the church. Seems about every half hour, people in they come out, next procession goes in, with appropriate bells ringing and rockets fired up into the sky with loudest bang, surprised they are not all deaf...
Pilgrims of 100 different religions up to a million every year to visit our Lady of El Rocio for annual pilgrimage 50 days after Easter and for 4 days of celebrations.
Had menu del dia €12 each, one drink, starter of potatoes aoli or tomato and mushrooms with tuna with bread, then main of meat in rich tomatoes sauce withchips or eggs over tomato and meat with white asparagus and coffee, very nice.
Just a shame it's so bitterly cold and windy, back to Bessie, ventured to the cold shower block, one cubicle had the sun on it so not too cold, water was lovely and hot, but cold floor ...brrrrr oh well it is what it is.
Lite tea soup and toast after our big lunch.
