Dry but very cold, due to reach 15° later, 40 min walk to the border, passport control, no stamp...they said get it from the Tourist Information in town €2 each.
To get on to the Rock you have to walk or drive over the airport runway into town....quite amazing , 35,000 population in Gibraltar but lots of Spanish come over every day to work, very busy.
Had a quick look in supermarket to get an idea of prices 1 ltr Jameson £10.99 !
Walked through quaint town, mostly pedestrian road, real mix of English and Spanish, had a coffee and a Gibraltan breakfast which was a sort of eggs, savoury pancake, quite nice.
Got to the cable car £13 each, height 420 metres. Great day for the views.
Cheeky monkey jumped on my bag and so quickly chewed the handle and undid the stitching..before my scream.....told him to get off....too late damage done....then he jumped on Tony's back and tried to get into his back pack.....eeekkkk.....don't know if it was the same one but one of them got someonespecial jacket , jumped into a baby stroller....luckily the child was in the safety of his mother's arms....but lots of running away...which apparently you are not supposed to do. All that in the first 5 Mins!
We walked around the ruins from the war some dates carved into the concrete Feb 1942.......good position from the gun tower to shoot at incoming through the straights of Gibraltar from Morocco.
Back down, had lunch, saw a liquor shop with Jack Daniels Honey Liqueur for £14.95......medicinal purposes......then back over the runway, through the border with all the workers, 5pm pedestrian rush hour.....into the UK supermarket for the Jameson....be rude not to, plus mince pies and xmas cakes, bovril and English tea bags.
Diesel is 80p here......must be less tax content . ....we already filled up at €1.08 and that was a bargain.
Long walk back with our booty, it did get up to14° and with the sun and clear blue sky's it was a cracker day out in Gibraltar....even got our passports stamped heehee.
