Along to Padstow park and ride.....sorry closed Today!!!! Down the winding hill to Padstow dock coach park....full...4 spaces for motorhomes only 3 but one parked inconsiderately so too narrow for another to get in. Buggar!!! Bye bye Padstow.
The sun found a gap in the clouds and was shining for our drive on to Tintagel. Pulled into first car park £2 all day £3.50 overnight on grass field. Parked next to other motorhomers from Holland. Saw another car park over hedge tarmac surface with several Motorhomes in as well. It belonged to the King Arthur Pub next door similar pricing so decided to stay here.
Wrapped up as a cool wind for our after lunch walk to find the ruin of Tintagel Castle. Walked thru the very quaint village along to the gravel path down, down past a path up with sign saying church. Carried on down past a sign for £2 ride up or down in a land-rover, we continued down, a little shop and exhibition of the history and legend of King Arthur, free fruit wine tasting and jam tasting. The ginger wine was delicious as was the lemon curd.
We carried on up and up and came to a kiosk asking for £8.50 each to go up and see the ruin...took the photos and decided to follow the track up to the AD500 church for free. It reminded of tge hill climb up to 4th green at Rennet Park golf course in Tauranga.....oh so that's why I don't play....haha
Cornish cream tea £8.50 was our reward for the mountain goat track and climb over slate and rock steps.
Walked to other end of the village and checked out the fish and chip shop for dinner later.
Back to Bessie, christened the chairs for a while till it got a bit too cool.
Overall very pretty village, rugged cliff landscape, interesting history and worth the narrow drive to get here.
