Stunning evening last night, wind dropped, warm and sunny, blue sea, perfect. We walked along the waterfront after dinner, met some locals walking their dog, they said 30 mins walk to Penzance and 40 min over causeway to Mt st Michael. Lord St. Levan still lives there with his wife. When the tide is in can get a boat £3.
Quite noisy with train engine, cars with radios loud coming and going and 6am dog walkers chatting together.
However it was wonderful waking up to the sound of gentle waves breaking and sun shining on the sea.
Motorhome neighbours Paul and Sharon lent us their All The Aires books and maps to get some co- ordinates and lpg places in Spain and Portugal but the co ordinates are all different from sat nav so will have to be converted. We spent a couple of hours taking a few down and planning that next part of the adventure.
After lunch we walked along the beach, tide was out so could walk along the victorian cobbled causeway to Mt St Michael 40 mins each way.
Saw Queen Victoria 's footprint, and Prince Charles and Camilla footprints from 2010. Bought a cornish ice cream.....be rude not to.....then walked back before high tide came in 4.45pm.
Took books back to Paul and Sharon, they had a brochure for us of the Minack Theatre, chatted for a while in late afternoon sunshine about the roads around Cornwall and the NC500 in Scotland, very helpful, gave email and facebook details if we wanted to keep in touch.
Beer and bruchetta before cooked dinner , sausages for Tony and Salmon for me with salad, washed down with a very tasty little Chenin Blanc.
Watched as group of young children and parents or teachers spent half an hour or so at 7pm in the warm evening picking up any rubbish on the beach, then another half hour playing and building sand castles. What a great idea to get kids involved in the environment and keeping beaches clean at the same time.
