Minack Theatre was amazing the virtual hand made terraced theatre carved out of the cliff face by Rowen Cade and her gardener..tremendous work to achieve and on going now with a charitable trust, quite extraordinary.
Thanks Dulcie for recommendation
Play was on at 12.30 so advised to leave by 11am before the buses and coaches start to come along the very narrow road. We left at 10.30 and at first bend there was a very tight meeting of a car and tractor pulling a trailer of dirt. The car was not moving so I got out to direct her between the rock wall and the tractor.....6 more cars followed and cars were banking up behind us, so I was glad to be able to help the stalemate. Glad we left when we did!
Ducks crossing the road.
Arrived at Lands End £6 for car park, lots of shops and extra activities you could pay for even charged £12 to have your name or home town put on the sign post for a photo! Bought a very tasty cornish pastie for lunch, better than the roadside one from a few days ago.
On the road again took the B road as were told by Paul and Sharon at Longrock it was driveable and recommend a site a Carn Galver mine, it was a very narrow road single Lane in places and when we arrived the very small car park was full with nowhere for us to pull over. So on to Plan B at St Ives....site had no pitches, coach park said we could stay for £20...no thanks on to Plan C thru St Just quaint little village, but not keen on these roads.
Headed for Redruth and pub stopover at Treleigh, the Inn For All Seasons.....massive car park.........parked up and in need of a drink after our stressful drive, went in, got our drinks and went out into the beer garden. This is also a hotel and there were 3 guests, the Manageress and the owner out there chatting. What a fabulous afternoon talking and having a laugh it was great.
Our travels in France over the mountains and Italy Cinque Terre have helped us prepare for these roads but didn't come close to any busses over there...
Back to Bessie and Tony cooked chicken, little boiled potatoes and salad. Fantastic end to a great day with a bit of stressful drive in between. Alls well that ends well.
