Sat 24 June 15° Pontrygwindy Caerphilly

Good rugby match ABS 30 Lions 15. We were made welcome with no animosity after we won.

Had breakfast, Tony had a full Welsh with black pudding,  £4.50 I had eggs bacon, tomato and mushrooms £3.65 very good value again.

He gave us a coffee each for free which was very nice of him.

We walked over the road to Asda and got a few provisions, nice fresh loaf which they sliced for us, so had fresh salad sandwiches with very tasty but crumbly caerphilly cheese.

We walked 20 mins to the castle, which is the largest in  Wales and 2nd largest in Britain  after Windsor. This medieval fortress has been used as back drop in Dr Who, Stella, Merlin and Casualty. The leaning tower is 3m out of perpendicular since 1648 thanks to Oliver Cromwell and his roundheads.

We heard pipe bands playing and met some sailors at the Mr whippy......rude not to....but we shared one so not too bad haha. They were having anice Armed Forces day, with tanks, weapons,  displays, demos and the military bands and competition pulling and assembling large guns by teams of cadets.

Made for a fun afternoon entertainment,  weather stayed dry with cool wind.

Mexican chicken for dinner.
