Sun 25 June 15° Caerphilly to Llansteffan

Showery night, rain drops and intermittent flourishes of rain from the trees overhead....not too low though....haha.

We skirted the edge of the National Park and it's forested hills with little villages in the valleys, very green and fresh after the rain. The sun came out as we reached the Valley of Neath and Afan Forest Park with a very narrow Lane leading  into the car park.

This is a free overnight stop, but quite tight parking and a little too isolated for our liking so we had lunch and decided to head for plan B.

Lots of round abouts in the valleys as we head around Swansea in the outskirts there was a petrol station, car wash and laundromat similar to those in France. Very bumpy ride with poor roads and lots of pot holes.

Long road down to Llansteffan beach, car park free stop over, it was full apart from  one at the end near the toilet block, ice cream and fish and chip shop. We squeezed in here beside a car with people eating their lunch, pie and chips and fish and chips.  People sitting on the bench seats eating or enjoying ice creams, walking along at low tide.

Rooks dive bombing the remains in the bins, squawking with delight at a few chips, one pulls it out the others fight for a piece, fun and games of the feathered variety....Tony says rook around the clock

Lovely spot, just the job, big black clouds overhead with occasional peeps from the sun, not cold though and families enjoy their Sunday at the beach.

Salmon for me sausages for Tony.
