Leisurely brunch with Ian and Heather eggs and bacon and hovis toast brings back childhood memories. Watched the rugby Crusaders vs Lions.
Although it was a wet day we went for a drive past their new rental which they have secured from August, then on to Broadsands where we had real Devonshire ice creams .
It was too wet for a walk...they both have fit bits and count their steps....watched the steam train go over the viaduct, we were going on it but the return train was full, so watched from the beach.
Drove to Dartmouth and over a chain ferry to the other side. Very pretty, quaint fishing village with colourful painted houses around the harbour. There was a cruise ship in the Silver Wind 570 passengers.
It started raining so took cover in a cafe near the fishing boats and had Devonshire cream tea...be rude not to....
Drove round to Newton Abbot but as the center was a pedestrian only area and it was still persisting down with rain decided to carry on. Tony wanted to get them a 40th Wedding anniversary cake which he did, craftily covered up so they couldn't see thru the bag.
Home again and Ian rang their favourite Italian restaurant for dinner tomorrow for their anniversary but it was closed on Sundays. Rang round and found one in Torquay. Then booked for an Indian for tonight.
It was still raining when we went out for our curry, it was cuisine from Nepal so slightly different but very nice, we all had something different and they were all good. Very friendly family run business, they came from Kathmandu 7 years ago. Very nice evening and we thought of our dear friend Bruce who is in hospice back in NZ we used to all go out for curry nights together. Go well our friend.
