Grey day greeted us as we took a morning walk around the beautiful Amazing Grace garden and walk. Very well done, with central pond for the water birds and natural grasses and wild flowers around the edges of lawn and flower beds. Also in the moho car park is a free library/book exchange, what a great idea, well done Buncrana.
Our drive today via Portrush, pretty town also with painted colourful houses and we had to call into the famous Royal Portrush golf club....right outside our door was a red tee with Royal Portrush printed on it...what a fabulous souvenir. The sun came out and it was a glorious day.
Lovely lunch spot and look out but talking to a local he said the weather was going to pack up this afternoon so we should get a move on to the causeway.
So we didn't dilly dally and the weather held for our walk and climb over the famous UNESCO world heritage site, with over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns the result of intense volcanic activity 60 million years old.
Thanks to our meeting with Fil and Geoff at Enniskillen we knew that as a World Heritage Site it had to be free and so we didn't go into the visitors for which you did have to pay, just walked around the building, under a tunnel and down to the causeway.
We walked and climbed the rocks an amazing place where the world meets, every nationality you could imagine was here, in peace and awe of nature.
Drove through Bushmills and arrived at our campsite Ballyness Caravan Parks at 3pm as clouds started to gather. We did the housework and filled the water from the tap on our pitch next to the Ehu, a great set up. £25 but worth it with state of the art showers and facilities. We were so lucky with the weather at 4pm the heavens opened and it poured down.
Tony took the umbrella to the showers and said they were well worth the £25...so as they have hairdryer I will finish this and have my shower and wash my hair and I can dry it....not an easy task now it is quite long....hasn't been cut since we left NZ....so easy though just to tie it up..thanks Elizabeth for the tip.
Tony's omelet and little boiled potatoes chipped for dinner.
