Sun 2 July 12° Rosslare to Cobh

What a great night at Tides,  watched a hurling match on tv their national sport, very rough...waiting for the Elvis impersonator and entertainer who sang for 2 hours non stop 10.20 to 20 past midnight,  dancing and fun, locals including  us in the evening.  €4.30 a pint for beer and interestingly vapour  cigarettes allowed in pubs and at €1.50 per dropper bottle it's way cheaper than smoking. We managed to stay the distance which amazed us, by the time we said goodbye to our new found buddies we left about 12.45 ! Great intro into our Irish adventures.

Sunshine this morning and  sunday swimmers out in force doning their wet suits, all ages going out to the waves,  the sea was like a mill pond.

Off again we farewelled a great place and onto the next at Cobh, pronounced  Cove, the last port of call of the Ill-fated  Titanic with a museum dedicated to the ship,.

The roads looked good but were very juddery,  no P parking places to pull over but wide roads with wide cycle tracks both sides. People don't speak Irish in the south but apparently in the west they speak nothing else...hardly any English...that will be interesting.

The sign posts here are also in Irish and English as in Wales. As we arrive in Waterford it's 15°......loverley.   The tax here on Alcohol and tobacco is 40% so we won't be buying our Jameson here!

As we drove on there were stalls roadside selling potatoes and berries, bought a punnet of raspberries  €5 freshly picked.

Traffic police have there own hidden laybys so watch the speed.....

Lovely lunch spot in Dungarvan on the coast.

Onto Jameson distillery, the passion is still strong but no work to do now, just enjoy.

Then to Fota wildlife park  €11.50 each seniors. Walked around for a good 2 hours seeing the animals which came from overflow of zoos onto this private island and has since made its name with a successful breeding program, which we witnessed with arrival of baby cheetah and large ostrich eggs waiting to hatch.

Best value ice cream, €1.50 for huge Mr whippy type but so thick and creamy, delicious.

Driving on to Cobh island under thick green arch of trees for our stop tonight, must be 40 motorhomes along the harbour wall.....the first one was empty so we took it,  a frigate to the front of us,  fitness zone to our right and a giant cruise ship to our left, what a great place and it's free, with water and black waste dump.

Tandoori chicken for dinner..yum, we'll done skipper and washed down with the wine wine we bought in Germany the box bottle Kabinett,  fruity and perfect with dinner and the raspberries and thick Greek coconut yoghurt for desert.
