Rain overnight so the little tent was wet, Margaret made a hearty porridge for breakfast with brown bread, honey, cheese....she even had Vegemite! the French couple weren't too sure about it......but they did try it. Lots of cups of tea and lots more strories and craic, Margaret said that the saying by hook or by crook was from 2 lighthouses off the wexford coast, one called Hook the other Crook and this is where Cromwell came in his attempt to invade Ireland, wet tent down and ready to leave 11am, they were also going to Cliffs of Moher, as we left Margaret gave us the traditional Irish blessing, holy water ...one drop in the house then cross yourself for safe journey.
We said our farewells and set off on our way, hidden rock walls along the side of the roads covered by grass and vines, roads quite improved, smooth surfaces into Liscannor on the Wild Atlantic Way to the cliffs of moher, sun shining and clearing skies, then lumpy, bumpy again with strong sulphur smell similar to Rotorua.
Into the massive car park, cars, motorhomes almost full, the man on the pay station said it was their busiest time between 11 and 4pm can stay overnight but to please leave by 9am.adults €6 seniors €4.50 so a good place to park, do the walks, visitors centre and shops and don't have to drive off after a busy day. Had lunch then set off to see the cliffs ....the weather started to close in and the clouds covered the cliffs......then it cleared......then it rolled back over them....so a case of now you see them now you don't....the cliffs of moher or the cliffs are mowhere?
Little row of shops built into the hillside like hobbit houses.
Got back about 5pm had a cuppa surprised to see cars still streaming in. Tierie and Katherine arrived they had been at the beach for a cold swim......it's open till 9pm so they were going for a look etc before going on to Galway to their hostel for the night.
Ratatouille and chicken for dinner.
