Tues 11 July 11° Jamestown Harbour to Glencar Loche

Rain overnight and the water levels on the river Shannon were quite high. Stopped at Aldi for top up of supplies then through the town Carrick-On-Shannon, very nice clean town, over the bridge with lots of cruisers moored up  in the harbour.

Darren had said one of the reason the roads are so bad and left corrugated is for the winter when they get snow and ice, it adds grip as they don't salt the roads.

Strandhill was recommended so headed out that way but the road was very narrow, asked a lady she said continues very narrow and have to go over the mountain, so decided to give it a miss. Drove into Sligo, but nowhere to park and the sign to the information centre seemed to lead nowhere, ended up driving round chasing our tail,  so kept going to our free stop for the night at Glencar Loche and Waterfall car park, another great free stopover. Saw our first motorhome since Galway.

Along the mountain range and Glencar Loche lookout, great road surfaces here leading down a long and winding dangerous,  narrow road to the lake edge.

5 minutes easy walk to the waterfall, a group of kids in  a school holiday activity programme were in the bottom river rapids, sliding down in their wetsuits and helmets.

Walked up to the Waterfall then along the road, no pavements.....to the canoe Hut where the kids had previously been canoeing on the lake.

Chicken curry for dinner.
