Fri 21 July 14° Windermere to Southport

 My hair washed and dried....haha

Raining today in sympathy with people back in NZ, terrible storms there at the moment.

Stopped for diesel £1.17 £40 for 34 ltrs. Past low stone walls alongside the fields with sheep grazing and green pastures into Lancashire  Red Rose County.

Plan A at Stockport Pleasureland is now catering or should be capitalising on the golf Open and charging £40 for motorhomes to park and stay overnight in their car park, no services. Plan B campsite also £40 if you can get in, drove off  to plan C  pub stopover The Sands, by the beach and a pretty wild life lake. Opposite Pontins holiday camp....that's a blast from the past...very popular holiday places for families along with Butlins back in the day.

There is a new owner and had not been asked before about staying overnight,  it's  £4 a day to park in the large car park, so said as we were from NZ and didn't know the area, we could stay for £10, but they don't do food.

So after lunch in Bessie, Tony walked to the Royal Birkdale Golf Club and bought a 4pm Twilight ticket £25 and a new cap also £25. Very happy camper.

But then the rain started and then it poured, he got soaked, said there were spotters along the dunes stopping people from watching or getting in,  also had armed and mounted police...why not at £75 for a day ticket. He enjoyed what he saw but the walking area turned into a bog and with the torrential rain, was not nice, so he got a taxi back £8.

He thoroughly enjoyed it wet but satisfied with his afternoon out and got some good photos .
