Driving to next stop in the valley along the Blue Stack Mountains, Southern Ireland all the way on that side of the border of the NW peninsula. The land is green with protruding rocks in the fields, very rugged on one side and Lough Swilly on the other, Amazing Grace Country, John Newton 1748 wrote the famous hymn after a traumatic experience at sea off this coast. Where he turned from sailor to priest and prolific hymn writer.
Sun trying to peep through the grey sky with small patches of blue appearing, may turn out to be a grand day.
Stopped in Letterkenny for diesel €1.17 €40 for 34 ltrs. Large homes here, with green lawns and very little if any garden or flowers.
Arrived at free park for the night in Buncrana, was a car park but the Council turned it to a dedicated motorhome park with Ehu and water, next to the Tourist Information office and a garden and walk dedicated to John Newton and the hymn Amazing Grace.
Heidi in the tourist office recommended we go north to Malin Head, the most northern point of Ireland.
After lunch we set off via Ballyliffin golf club where next year's Irish open will be held. Then the rain came on the narrow, rough, winding road out to the headland and viewing point. No motorhomes past a certain point so a very helpful workman offered to move his van so we could park along the fence of the building they were working on. The rain had stopped and was clearing so although a bit blustery it was not too bad for the view.
After a very invigorating walk to the top and just as the rain started we got back to Bessie and drove back past Five Finger Stack beach and through Carndonagh. We saw a moho dump sign so turned off and found it in a car park, water, Ehu and waste dump with water to wash cassette, excellent facility no parking though but great service to provide.
Back to Buncrana for free stopover at the Amazing Grace dedicated moho car park.
Spinach & Ricotta Tortellini with chichen and vegetables stir fry for dinner.
